Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentistry, as the name indicates, treats children’s oral health. The pediatric dentist will search for any anomalies in tooth positioning in order to refer the patient to the orthodontist in case it is necessary.

Also if the patient is detected any conditions that might have to be restored due to traumas in the given area, the dentist will use sealants in order to prevent any cavities from forming, with put damaging the tooth enamel.

The main difference between general dentistry and pediatric dentistry is that when treating cavities in primary teeth the dentist will employ a more aggressive type of treatment instead of the more conservative given to a permanent tooth. This is to prevent any type of complications that may arise to the permanent tooth because of insufficient treatment to a primary tooth.
